WASHINGTON: Donald J. Trump said the United States is “very close” to achieving its military objectives against Iran and is considering winding down its operations in the region, according to a statement shared on social media.
Trump outlined a series of goals he said had largely been met, including degrading Iran’s missile capabilities, weakening its defence industrial base, and targeting key elements of its naval and air forces. He also reiterated that the U.S. would not allow Iran to develop nuclear capabilities.
“We are getting very close to meeting our objectives,” Trump said, adding that the U.S. would remain ready to respond “quickly and powerfully” if needed.

The statement also emphasised continued support for key Middle East allies, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, highlighting Washington’s commitment to regional security.
Trump noted that the strategic Strait of Hormuz should be secured by nations that rely on it, suggesting a reduced direct U.S. role while offering assistance if requested.
“It will be an easy military operation for them,” he said, referring to regional partners, while indicating that U.S. involvement may decrease once the perceived threat from Iran is neutralised.
