MUSCAT — Qatar has strongly condemned what it described as an Israeli strike on facilities linked to the South Pars gas field, calling the move a “dangerous and irresponsible escalation” amid rising regional tensions.
In a statement attributed to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials said the targeted site is connected to the South Pars field in southern Iran — part of the world’s largest natural gas reservoir, which extends into Qatar’s North Field.
The ministry warned that targeting energy infrastructure poses a direct threat to global energy security and risks destabilising not only the region but also international markets.

“Attacks on vital energy facilities threaten global supply chains and endanger the environment and the wellbeing of people across the region,” the statement said.
Qatar reiterated its call for all parties to exercise restraint, avoid targeting civilian and critical infrastructure, and adhere to international law. It also urged de-escalation efforts to preserve regional stability.
The comments come amid heightened tensions involving Israel and Iran, raising concerns over potential disruptions to energy flows from the Gulf — a region that plays a central role in global oil and gas supplies.
