MUSCAT : The figures show that the total number of guests staying in classified hotels (3–5 stars) across the Sultanate reached 242,106 by the end of January 2026, compared to 228,183 guests during the same period in 2025.
The data highlights a significant rise in domestic tourism, with the number of Omani guests increasing by 12.7 per cent to reach 76,709 visitors. In contrast, the number of guests from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries declined by 7.3 per cent to 13,478 guests, while visitors from other Arab countries recorded a marginal growth of 0.8 per cent to reach 8,306 guests.
International tourism continued to show mixed trends. The number of hotel guests from the Asian continent increased by 9.4 per cent to 33,232, while guests from Europe grew by 2.8 per cent to reach 89,173 visitors. Visitors from the American continent also recorded notable growth of 11.1 per cent, reaching 8,790 guests.

Meanwhile, the number of hotel guests from Africa saw a slight decline of 0.5 per cent to 1,715, while guests from Oceania dropped sharply by 41.7 per cent to 2,747 visitors by the end of January 2026.
The sector also witnessed a strong improvement in revenues. Classified hotel revenues rose by 29.1 per cent to reach RO 35.945 million, compared to RO 27.847 million during the same period in 2025.
In addition, the hotel occupancy rate improved to 69.8 per cent by the end of January 2026, up from 62.6 per cent during the same period last year, marking a growth of 11.6 per cent.
