MUSCAT : According to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the growth was primarily driven by sales and mortgage contracts, with the traded value of sales contracts rising 37.5 percent to RO 109.9 million from RO 79.9 million in January 2025. The number of sales contracts showed a modest increase of 0.7 percent, reaching 5,725 contracts compared to 5,688 contracts last year.
Similarly, the traded value of mortgage contracts increased 20 percent, amounting to RO 125.4 million through 2,179 contracts, up from RO 104.5 million for 1,705 contracts in the same period of 2025.
In contrast, swap contracts saw a significant decline, with the traded value dropping 50.4 percent to RO 0.5 million for 100 contracts, compared to RO 1 million for 152 contracts in January 2025.
The total number of real estate ownership certificates issued decreased by 24.9 percent, reaching 15,469 certificates compared to 20,588 certificates during the same period last year. Certificates issued to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens declined sharply by 59.1 percent, totalling 83 certificates compared to 203 in January 2025.
