MUSCAT : In a statement released on March 4, 2026, the Embassy advised Indian travellers that obtaining a visit or tourist visa in advance is generally required to enter Oman. Travellers are expected to apply for an e-visa through authorised travel agents via the Royal Oman Police’s official visa portal before travelling.

However, the notice also clarified that visa-on-arrival facilities are available for Indian passport holders who possess valid visas or residence permits from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, or countries within the Schengen area. Such travellers may enter Oman for a stay of up to 14 days without a pre-arranged visa, provided they hold a confirmed return ticket, hotel booking, and valid health insurance.

The Embassy further stated that Indian citizens residing in GCC countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, who hold valid resident cards are also eligible to obtain a visa on arrival in Oman.

At the same time, the notice emphasised that holders of student resident cards from GCC countries must obtain a visit visa prior to entering Oman.

Travellers have also been reminded to ensure that their passports remain valid for at least six months when applying for an Omani visa.
