DUBAI/MANAMA : A loud explosion was reported in the United Arab Emirates capital, Abu Dhabi, Reuters said on Saturday, as regional tensions escalated following Israel’s attack on Iran.
There was no immediate official statement from Emirati authorities on the cause of the blast or whether there were any casualties or damage.
Earlier, the UAE announced the temporary partial closure of its airspace as an exceptional precautionary measure, citing heightened regional developments. Authorities did not specify the duration of the closure, but airlines were expected to adjust routes and schedules as necessary.

In neighbouring Bahrain, a service centre affiliated with the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet was subjected to a missile attack, the Bahraini National Contact Center said.
The reported strike came after Bahrain’s Interior Ministry activated warning sirens across the kingdom and urged citizens and residents to proceed to the nearest safe location.
Authorities in both countries have yet to provide detailed assessments of the incidents. Gulf states have stepped up security and aviation measures amid fears of further escalation in the region.
