MANAMA : A service centre affiliated with the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain was subjected to a missile attack, the Bahraini National Contact Center said on Saturday, following reports of explosions in the kingdom.

The statement came hours after Bahrain’s Interior Ministry activated warning sirens nationwide and urged citizens and residents to proceed to the nearest safe location amid heightened regional tensions following Israel’s attack on Iran.

Authorities did not immediately provide details on the extent of the damage or whether there were any casualties resulting from the reported strike.

The U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, headquartered in Bahrain, oversees naval operations in the Gulf region and surrounding waters.

Officials urged the public to follow safety instructions and rely on official sources for updates as the situation develops.
