WASHINGTON : U.S. President Donald Trump said joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes on Iran were launched to defend the American people by eliminating what he described as imminent threats from the Iranian regime.
“Short time ago, U.S. military began major combat operation in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime,” Trump said in a statement.
He characterised the operation as a response to security risks posed by Tehran, saying the action was intended to neutralise threats before they materialised.
