MUSCAT – With an impressive overall score of 207.6, Oman has outperformed several major advanced economies, including Switzerland, Germany, and Norway, to take its place among the world’s top five most liveable nations.
The Sultanate trails only the Netherlands, Denmark, and Luxembourg on the global stage, signalling a massive leap in its international standing.
The report highlights Oman’s strong Safety Index score of 81.6, positioning it among the safest countries worldwide. The Sultanate also posted a Purchasing Power Index of 156.3, reflecting strong household income levels relative to living costs.

Affordability emerged as a key strength. Oman recorded a Cost of Living Index of 43.6, making it one of the most competitively priced countries within the top-ranked group. Housing accessibility was another standout factor, with a Property Price to Income Ratio of 3.8 – significantly lower than many developed markets.
Healthcare performance remained steady, with Oman scoring 63.5 on the Health Care Index. The data also shows manageable urban mobility, with a Traffic Commute Time Index of 24.9, further boosting the country’s appeal for regional headquarters and skilled professionals.
Within Asia, Oman outperformed regional and global peers including Japan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Singapore.
