KARACHI : Pakistan announced on Sunday that its forces had carried out cross-border attacks against militant strongholds in Afghanistan, citing a recent wave of attacks by insurgents operating inside the country. The military said the operation targeted hostile elements believed to be planning further violence.
The attack further inflamed long-simmering tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over suspected rebel sanctuaries, complicating diplomatic efforts and raising concerns among regional powers about possible escalation. Critics say such actions could further destabilise Afghanistan’s already fragile situation.
