MUSCAT : Oman has strongly condemned remarks made by U.S. Ambassador to Tel Aviv Mike Huckabee in which he expressed support for Israel’s control over the entire Middle East, including the occupied West Bank.
In a statement carried by the Oman News Agency, the Sultanate said it “denounces and strongly condemns” the comments, describing them as a tacit acceptance of an illegal project to impose control over territories in the region. Oman said such statements violate international law and the United Nations Charter.
Huckabee, speaking in an interview with U.S. journalist Tucker Carlson on a podcast released on Friday, argued that Israel has a biblical right to land stretching “from the Nile to the Euphrates rivers,” and said, “It would be fine if they (Israel) took it all.” During the interview, he defended Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and voiced support for the concept of “divine providence” granting Israel control over the region.
