MUSCAT : Oman’s Social Protection Fund (SPF) said on Tuesday that the childhood allowance remains in force and unchanged, seeking to clarify public confusion following earlier amendments related to benefits for senior citizens.
In a statement, SPF said it is closely monitoring public discussions surrounding a review of social benefits, noting that recent debate has incorrectly linked adjustments affecting senior citizens to the childhood allowance.
SPF stressed that the childhood allowance continues to be paid in accordance with the Social Protection Law and that no review is under way aimed at cancelling, suspending or modifying the benefit for children.

It said the discussions refer solely to measures previously introduced in relation to senior citizens’ benefits and should not be interpreted as affecting children’s entitlements under the social protection system.
SPF added that the childhood allowance is a permanent benefit designed to support children and families, forming a core pillar of Oman’s social welfare framework.
