MUSCAT – Two expat workers, one Italian and one Pakistani, were killed in a construction accident at Oman’s Muttrah Cable Car Project during installation works, the project developer said on Friday, adding that the incident was not linked to any operational testing of the system.

Sabeen Investment said the accident occurred while structural installation activities were under way at one of the project sites.

In an official statement, the company expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended its condolences to the families of the victims, praying for mercy for the deceased and patience for their relatives.

The company said the incident took place during the implementation phase of construction and was not related to any trial or operational testing of the cable car, addressing speculation circulating publicly.

Sabeen Investment said the relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident to determine its causes.

The company praised the swift response of the Royal Oman Police, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, and other technical teams, noting that immediate support was provided from the moment the incident was reported.

Sabeen Investment reaffirmed its full commitment to occupational health and safety standards across all its project sites and said it would cooperate fully with the competent authorities and take all necessary measures in line with the findings of the official investigations.
