WASHINGTON : In his remarks, Trump said he would serve as president of the newly formed council and expressed support for a Palestinian technocratic committee and a national committee tasked with administering Gaza during a transitional phase. He noted that the members of these bodies would be announced at a later stage, adding that the selected Palestinian leaders are “firmly committed to a peaceful future.”
The announcement follows the recent formation of a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee that is expected to manage Gaza after the end of the conflict. The move is part of a broader, US-backed Gaza peace plan that officially came into effect on October 10.
The plan also provides for the deployment of an international stabilization force in Gaza, alongside the training of Palestinian police units to maintain security and law and order during the transition period.

According to Steve Witkoff, the US envoy to the Middle East, the second phase of the plan, which came into effect on Wednesday, focuses on the large-scale reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, marking a shift from immediate stabilization to long-term recovery efforts.
