Rabat: The Senegal national football team booked their place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating the Egypt national football team in a closely fought encounter played in Tangier.

The decisive moment came in the 78th minute, when Sadio Mané found the net to settle the semi-final and keep Senegal’s title hopes alive.

With the win, Senegal advance to the final scheduled for next Sunday at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between Morocco national football team and Nigeria national football team, to be played later today.

Senegal are chasing their second Africa Cup of Nations title, having lifted the trophy in 2021. This marks the fourth time they have reached the tournament final, after previous appearances in 2002, 2019 and 2021.

Meanwhile, Egypt will contest the third-place playoff against the loser of the Morocco–Nigeria semi-final on Saturday at the Mohammed V Stadium.
