MUSCAT : The Ministry of Labour, through its Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) sections in labour directorates and departments across the governorates, has carried out a series of field inspection and awareness visits to energy sector facilities to enhance compliance with workplace safety requirements.

In a statement, the ministry said a total of 138 intensive inspection and awareness visits were conducted as part of its ongoing efforts to promote safe working environments and raise adherence to occupational safety and health standards.

The inspections found that 21 establishments were fully compliant with OSH requirements, while 62 facilities were subjected to corrective measures to address shortcomings and improve compliance. Four companies were temporarily shut down due to the presence of serious occupational hazards that posed risks to workers’ safety.

The ministry added that 17 per cent of the visits focused on awareness and guidance, benefiting 124 workers through direct safety education and training.

According to the ministry, the visits aim to raise commitment to occupational safety standards, support continuous improvement of work environments, and strengthen the preventive approach by expanding awareness campaigns to reach a broader segment of workers in the energy sector.
