Caracas: The announcement was made by Supreme Constitutional Court of Venezuela, which confirmed on Sunday that Rodríguez would assume presidential duties on an interim basis after Maduro’s arrest early Saturday morning. According to official statements, the arrest was carried out by US forces during a military operation that led to Maduro and his wife being taken to US territory.
The development comes just two days after US President Donald Trump declared that the United States had launched a large-scale strike against Venezuela, marking a sharp escalation in tensions between the two nations.
