Muscat: The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al-Ghasani, Chairman of the Committee, and brought together representatives from relevant government entities to assess progress and strengthen efforts to protect public health.

During the session, members reviewed the latest research developments on local Anopheles mosquitoes, including findings from extensive fieldwork conducted during the Dhofar Autumn season of 2025. The committee also examined scientific recommendations submitted by the research team, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and long-term sustainability of the mosquito control project.

A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on a proposed biological control programme targeting nuisance mosquitoes. The committee reviewed its implementation mechanism and phased executive plan, describing it as a promising component of an integrated disease vector management system.

The committee also deliberated on organising a specialised workshop to showcase national efforts in disease vector control and to strengthen cooperation with partner institutions. The initiative is expected to support the development of environmental sanitation programmes and improve overall system readiness.
