Beijing: In a statement issued on Sunday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said it was “gravely concerned” by reports that US forces had been deployed to seize Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and take them out of Venezuela. The reports, which surfaced on Saturday, triggered strong opposition from multiple countries.

China described the alleged move as a clear breach of international law and basic norms governing international relations, stating that it runs counter to the purposes and principles of the United Nations. Beijing urged Washington to ensure the personal safety of Maduro and his wife and to cease actions aimed at toppling Venezuela’s government.

The spokesperson emphasized that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation, calling on all parties to exercise restraint and respect Venezuela’s sovereignty.
