Dubai: The centrepiece of the night will be the world’s largest drone performance, featuring 6,500 drones lighting up the sky for 20 minutes as part of the ongoing Sheikh Zayed Festival. The aerial display will form nine giant formations, seamlessly integrated with fireworks and a digital countdown to usher in 2026 in dramatic fashion.

Complementing the drone show is an extended 62-minute fireworks display, the longest ever attempted in the capital, unfolding in five stages throughout the evening and culminating in a sweeping midnight finale. Powered by advanced launch and synchronisation technologies, the spectacle is expected to blanket the Al Wathba skyline in colour and sound.

Beyond the sky, celebrations on the ground will offer a packed programme of cultural and artistic performances delivered by government partners, international artists, and major sponsors. Traditional Emirati arts such as Al Ayala, Al Razfa and Al Nadooba will take centre stage alongside global music and dance acts, carnival-style parades, and family-friendly attractions. Children and families can also enjoy dedicated programming at the Kids’ Theatre and activities at the newly launched Wonderland entertainment city.

With tens of thousands expected to attend, organisers have expanded entry and exit gates, widened pedestrian walkways, and strengthened safety, medical and support services. Authorities have advised visitors to secure tickets early and follow official updates, as entry will close once full capacity is reached.

The celebrations form part of the wider Sheikh Zayed Festival, one of Abu Dhabi’s largest cultural and heritage events, held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the supervision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
