Muscat: During its tenth meeting of the year, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, the Council discussed ongoing development plans and measures aimed at improving the quality of services provided to residents.
A key agenda item was the maintenance of damaged roads in the governorate for the 2026–2030 period. The Council reviewed the progress of works, technical treatments being applied, and efforts undertaken to rehabilitate affected roads and enhance traffic safety across various locations.
The Council also praised achievements recorded in recent months, highlighting the Al Buraimi Oasis project in the city centre, which has surpassed 99 per cent completion and is expected to open in the coming days.

Members further reviewed updates on the consultancy study for rainwater drainage in the governorate, which has exceeded 60 per cent completion. The study includes technical and engineering solutions and multiple scenarios aimed at improving drainage efficiency and reducing water accumulation in several areas.
In addition, the Council examined minutes of committee meetings and responses from relevant authorities, and discussed proposals to establish a roundabout on the ring road in the Hamasa area, as well as plans to regulate proposed entrances along the Sohar–Al Buraimi road.
The meeting also covered a range of development files, including plans to develop industrial areas in the wilayats of Mahdah and Al Buraimi, redevelopment of the old Hamasa, old Al Khatwa and Al Azazna neighbourhoods, and the proposed Al Awah residential plan, which is expected to support the governorate’s economic and tourism growth.
