MUSCAT : The project is being executed by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and begins from the Manakh area near the Wadi Bani Khalid police station, extending to the village of Mazir’a in the state centre.

Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Khanjari, civil engineer and project manager at the ministry, told the Oman News Agency that the actual completion rate has exceeded the planned schedule by more than 20 per cent. He added that the road is expected to be opened to traffic in the third quarter of 2026.

Al-Khanjari noted that the project serves as an alternative access route to the state of Wadi Bani Khalid and is among the most prominent development initiatives in the area. The road is expected to play a vital economic role by enhancing logistical movement, facilitating daily transport for residents, school buses and service vehicles, and improving connectivity between villages and state centres. This, he said, will strengthen social ties and support the development of services in line with the state’s growth plans.

The road comprises two lanes, each 3.5 metres wide, with 1.5-metre asphalt shoulders. The project also includes box culverts and water drainage channels designed to ensure safety during rainfall.

Traffic safety features such as concrete and metal barriers, directional signage, road markings and warning signs have also been incorporated. According to the ministry, the project is expected to ease traffic flow while stimulating urban expansion, tourism activity and broader economic development in the state.
