MUSCAT : According to statistical indicators released by Asyad, direct Indian imports through Omani ports recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.8 per cent during the period, while Omani exports to India achieved a CAGR of 16 per cent.

The share of direct imports from India to Oman rose significantly from 75 per cent in 2020 to 88 per cent in 2024, underscoring the growing reliance of Omani and Indian businesses on direct shipping channels provided by Asyad in collaboration with global shipping partners.

The growth has been attributed to a suite of quality logistics initiatives, including the launch of regular and direct sea shipping lines connecting Omani ports in Sohar, Duqm and Salalah with key Indian ports such as Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Hazira and Jawaharlal Nehru. These routes have helped reduce transit times and lower shipping costs, enhancing the competitiveness of bilateral trade.

Asyad has also established international collection centres and a unified purchase order management system in India, anchored by its main centre at Nhava Sheva Port, with sub-centres in Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. These facilities aim to streamline supply chains and consolidate purchase orders, leveraging the group’s international asset network following acquisitions completed over the past year.

In addition, the activation of Khazaen Dry Port has strengthened direct import operations by offering partial shipment solutions from India, accelerating cargo arrivals and supporting both domestic and external trade flows.

Asyad Group said it continues to harness its full range of logistics assets, including seaports, maritime transport, free and economic zones, logistics solutions and cold chain services, to facilitate direct trade through Omani ports and support sustained growth in Oman–India trade relations.
