Doha: Among Qatar’s most prominent accomplishments is its inclusion among the world’s top ten countries in the global competitiveness rankings, underscoring the strength of its economic performance, government efficiency and advanced infrastructure. The country has also strengthened its reputation for stability and security, ranking highly on the Global Peace Index, while announcing its candidacy to host the 2036 Olympic Games.

Diplomatically, Qatar’s relations with major European and Asian nations saw significant progress this year, with the signing of several cooperation agreements spanning energy, education and scientific research. At the regional level, Doha continued to play an active role in supporting Gulf integration and participating in Arab and Islamic summits, reaffirming its commitment to key regional issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.

Qatar also maintained its active mediation role in regional and international conflicts, guided by a foreign policy centred on dialogue and diplomacy. During the year, it hosted talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan and contributed to facilitating an agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On the domestic political front, 2025 witnessed continued progress in Qatar’s new parliamentary experience, a significant step toward greater citizen participation in legislative processes and policy formulation.

Economically, Qatar recorded a gross domestic product growth of 1.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, driven largely by the recovery of the tourism and services sectors. The country also continued implementing the North Field LNG expansion project, the largest of its kind globally, reinforcing its position as the world’s leading exporter of liquefied natural gas and a cornerstone of global energy security.

In line with Qatar Vision 2030, the State launched its third National Development Strategy, focusing on economic diversification and innovation across technology, financial services and manufacturing.

Commenting on the occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahd Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Sultanate of Oman, said National Day represents a source of pride for the Qatari people and reflects the country’s development under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. He prayed for continued progress, prosperity and stability for the nation.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency, H.E. Sheikh Mubarak noted that Qatar’s achievements extend beyond economic and administrative success to include sports, education and peace, affirming steady progress toward achieving the goals of Qatar Vision 2030.

The ambassador also praised the deep fraternal ties between Qatar and Oman, highlighting the shared destiny of the two nations and commending the achievements under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, which have contributed to strengthening Gulf cooperation through major infrastructure projects, ports and free zones.
