MUSCAT : This follows the September 1, 2025, requirement for workers in specific energy and minerals sector professions to obtain a professional practice license through the Oman Energy Society, represented by the Sector Skills Unit for the Energy and Minerals Sector, as a prerequisite for issuing or renewing work permits.
The Ministry stressed that the grace period extends until 1 June 2026, during which establishments and workers are encouraged to complete all licensing requirements. Work permits will continue to be issued or renewed during this period for licensed and unlicensed workers. However, starting 1 June 2026, no work permit will be granted or renewed for any profession subject to licensing without a valid professional license issued by the Sector Skills Unit.
The Ministry stressed the importance of adhering to these deadlines to ensure smooth operations and compliance with labour market regulations.
