MUSCAT : Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) on Sunday named Eng. Aladdin bin Abdullah Bait Fadhil as its new Chief Executive Officer, the company’s board of directors said, marking a key leadership shift as the sultanate’s largest telecom operator pushes deeper into digital transformation.

Eng. Aladdin previously served as Omantel’s Chief Commercial Officer, where he helped shape the company’s commercial strategy and expand its position as a leading integrated telecom provider in the Gulf region. With more than two decades of experience in the sector, he is credited with driving major initiatives across enterprise, wholesale, customer experience, and digital innovation.

The board said the appointment underscores Omantel’s commitment to empowering national talent and strengthening Omani leadership across the organisation. It comes as the company advances its long-term strategy, “Portal to the Future,” aimed at positioning Omantel as a regional digital powerhouse and a key enabler of the nation’s digital economy.

Omantel added that Eng. Aladdin has played a significant role in forging partnerships that support Oman’s broader economic ambitions, particularly in technology-driven sectors. He holds an engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University and has completed executive programmes at Harvard Business School, London Business School and Manchester Business School.

The board expressed confidence in his ability to guide the company through its next phase of growth and transformation, building on Omantel’s established market presence and long-term value creation for customers, shareholders, and the country.
