MUSCAT – The event, which highlighted the richness of Omani heritage, marked a significant step forward for Omani cultural diplomacy in the United States.
Dr. Majid bin Hilal Al Khalili, Executive Director of the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center, described the event as exceptional in both concept and execution. He noted that what set the evening apart was not only the richness of the designs showcased, but also the fact that this was the Centre’s inaugural fashion show – an initiative that reflects its broader vision to expand cultural activities and connect Omani heritage with wider audiences across the U.S.

Omani designer Alaa Alsiyabi, who travelled from the Sultanate of Oman specifically for the event, presented a striking collection inspired by the traditional attire of Omani women. Her designs, crafted from luxurious fabrics and detailed with intricate hand embroidery, blended authenticity with modern elegance. The collection offered a contemporary interpretation of Omani dress while preserving its timeless cultural essence.

The evening was organised in partnership with Omani businesswoman Rasha Al Madani, a member of the Businesswomen Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, whose contributions were instrumental to the event’s refined presentation. Al Madani emphasised that the show marks the beginning of a new chapter in promoting Omani identity on a global stage.

More than a fashion showcase, the event served as a cultural platform underscoring Oman’s artistic and humanitarian presence. It conveyed a message that the Sultanate is capable of presenting its heritage to the world with grace, sophistication, and originality.
The event was attended by His Excellency Talal bin Sulaiman Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United States, alongside diplomats, U.S. government officials, and prominent figures from the media and cultural sectors.
