Ministry announces accreditation of Omani companies specialising in food security services

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has announced the opening of accreditation services for Omani companies and institutions specialising in food security services.

MUSCAT : The registration process aims to accredit qualified national companies and institutions to provide services on behalf of the Ministry in all governorates, covering agricultural, animal, fisheries, and water resources sectors, in addition to services related to the Food Safety and Quality Centre.

The Ministry stated that pre-registration will support the implementation of national programs, improve service delivery, and contribute to protecting agricultural, animal, fisheries, and water resources, while raising the quality of local production across various value chains.

Companies and institutions interested in applying can access the detailed terms of reference and obtain the registration form through the Ministry’s electronic services portal.

Following are the conditions for providing the services:

• Commercial registration issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion
• The land intended for the project must be industrial according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning
• Environmental approval by the Environment Authority
• Civil Defense approval from the Royal Oman Police (if a factory design exists)
• The company or institution must be Omani, registered, and licensed by the relevant authorities to carry out activities directly related to the agricultural, animal, fisheries, and water resources sectors, as well as food safety and quality
• The commercial registration must be valid and consistent with the nature of the services to be implemented
• Submission of certified official documents including commercial registration, tax card, and membership certificate from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• The company must have an active headquarters with a clear address in the Sultanate of Oman for administrative and technical communication with the Ministry
• The company, its partners, or directors must not be involved in any dispute or legal proceedings with the Ministry or relevant government authorities
• The company and its owners must not be suspended or listed on prohibited lists in government dealings
• Submission of a written undertaking to fully comply with laws, regulations, and ministerial decisions regulating the food security sector
• Availability of technical expertise and qualified personnel in fields related to food security
• Submission of a technical list including qualified personnel, their certified qualifications, and practical experience
• Possession of the necessary tools, equipment, and technologies to perform the service according to Ministry standards
• Commitment to applying quality, safety, and occupational health systems
• Submission of proven previous work in the field of accreditation
• Proof of financial solvency of no less than 600 points to cover operational and implementation costs without compromising service quality

The Ministry also pointed out that the accreditation is granted for one year and is renewable based on performance evaluation and compliance with conditions. However, the Ministry reserves the right to withdraw, suspend, or cancel accreditation if any condition is violated or if there is negligence in service performance.

Besides, accreditation does not create any obligation on the Ministry in case of default or breach by the company/institution toward the beneficiary or third parties.
