Oman to host global conference on Mediation as Future of Dispute Resolution

The Supreme Judicial Council will organize an international conference on November 16 titled “Mediation: The Future of Dispute Resolution,” bringing together leading international experts.

MUSCAT : The conference underscores the Council’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of Oman’s judicial system and promoting alternative means of litigation that support the investment climate while building confidence among stakeholders in the rule of law.

Through five main sessions, the event will delve into critical issues including access to justice through court-related mediation, the professional development of mediators, international commercial mediation, dispute resolution between investors and states, and the enforcement of settlement agreements using the Singapore Mediation Convention as a model. Another key topic will focus on the role of mediation in resolving family business disputes from a governance perspective.

Distinguished participants include representatives from the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Oman Centre for Commercial Arbitration, the Arbitration Centre of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OICAC), the Abu Dhabi Global Market Courts, the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts, and the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution. Experts from the Middle East, Europe, and North America will also contribute their insights.
