MUSCAT – The action specifically targets unlicensed, non-compliant, and expatriate-operated kiosks, with a future plan to grant licenses and allocate alternative, organised sites to Omani citizens who personally manage their businesses.

The initiative aims to improve the efficiency of municipal services while preserving the aesthetic appeal of the city.

Officials highlighted that all affected kiosks are currently operated by expatriate workers, in violation of licensing terms. Moving forward, licenses will be granted only to citizens who personally manage their businesses in line with established rules and procedures.

Dhofar Municipality also stated that it is studying alternative organised sites for business owners, taking into account regulatory and health requirements, to ensure that commercial activities are conducted in a safe and regulated environment.
