JEDDAH – The signing ceremony took place today in Jeddah, with Oman represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) and Saudi Arabia represented by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Maamari, Omani Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah.

It reflects the close fraternal ties between the two countries and their joint efforts to ensure smooth arrangements for Omani pilgrims.

Under the agreement, the MERA will supervise Omani pilgrims and residents performing Hajj, in line with regulations set by the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia. Key provisions include organising pilgrim registration through the ‘Masar’ platform, booking camps, securing essential service packages, and arranging transportation, accommodation, and food services.

The agreement also sets procedures for medical services, transport schedules at the Jamarat Bridge, and the timing of rituals including the arrival, departure, and farewell circumambulation. It further outlines the mechanisms for the pilgrims’ arrival and departure via Saudi ports.
