MUSCAT : The newly inaugurated Al Irfan Mosque stands as a striking addition to the spiritual and architectural landscape of the city. Designed in a modern Islamic style, the mosque seamlessly combines aesthetic beauty with functionality, emphasizing comfort, safety, and accessibility across its two floors.

Engineer Nasser bin Rashid Al-Shibli, the mosque’s agent, told the Oman News Agency that the main prayer hall on the ground floor can accommodate around 1,500 worshippers. The open-plan design ensures natural ventilation and abundant light, while a grand circular dome serves as the architectural centerpiece. The ground floor also houses a security control room overseeing all entry and exit points, along with a public library offering space for educational and cultural activities.

The first floor includes a women’s prayer hall for approximately 50 worshippers, overlooking the main prayer area to maintain visual connection during services. A Quran memorization school for young learners is also located on the upper level, equipped with modern educational facilities.

The mosque’s 41.76-meter minaret, crafted with traditional Islamic proportions, adds a distinctive landmark to Al Irfan’s skyline, connecting the structure harmoniously with its urban surroundings.

The inaugural prayer was led by Dr. Ismail bin Nasser Al-Aufi, Scientific Advisor at the Office of the Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs. In his sermon, Dr. Al-Aufi emphasized the importance of maintaining mosques as centers of worship, learning, and community, highlighting that the recitation of the Holy Quran brings peace to hearts and serves as the guiding light for believers.
