MUSCAT – Among the products identified is a children’s cup marketed under the brand ‘Villeroy & Boch’, which may break when pressed from the inside, potentially causing injuries to children.

The CPA also warned against the use of Speedmax CF bicycles (models R073 and R41) after reports that the fork steerer tube may crack or break, leading to the separation of the stem and handlebars. Such failures, especially following heavy impacts or collisions with potholes, could result in falls and serious injuries.

Additionally, a warning was issued for the Fisher-Price children’s swing, as using the swing for sleeping or with additional accessories could increase the risk of suffocation due to the headrest and body support cushion.

The Authority further cautioned against inflatable neck rings designed to help children float, citing drowning risks if a child’s head slips through the neck opening or if air volume decreases during use.
Another product under warning includes children’s swimming pools by INTEX (models: Metal Frame, Prism Frame, and Ultra), as children may use the outer pressure belt for support, potentially allowing unsupervised access to the pool and increasing the risk of drowning.

The CPA reaffirmed its commitment to performing its regulatory and supervisory role through continuous market monitoring by specialized teams to ensure that all products in Oman comply with safety standards. The Authority urged consumers to exercise caution when purchasing children’s products, particularly from online platforms, and to verify that items meet approved specifications before purchase.
