Spain confers highest civilian honour on His Majesty Sultan Haitham during state visit

The prestigious state ceremony at Zarzuela Palace saw the exchange of the highest royal honours between His Majesty Sultan Haitham and King Felipe VI, marking a milestone in Oman–Spain relations and celebrating a partnership built on mutual respect and shared vision.

MADRID : In a historic expression of respect and enduring friendship, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has been awarded Spain’s highest royal civilian honour, “Order of Isabella the Catholic”, by His Majesty King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid. The honour was conferred in recognition of His Majesty’s role in strengthening Oman–Spain relations and fostering deeper cooperation between the two nations.

During the ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan exchanged commemorative medals and gifts with the Spanish monarch. King Felipe VI was bestowed the “Order Al Said”, Oman’s highest civilian honour symbolising the depth of bilateral relations and mutual admiration between the leaderships of both countries.

His Majesty also bestowed upon Her Majesty Queen Letizia the Order of Oman, First Class, and presented royal decorations to a number of distinguished Spanish dignitaries in recognition of their contributions to fostering bilateral relations.

King Felipe VI also extended royal honours to members of the official Omani delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan.
