NIZWA : Oman’s Nama Electricity Distribution Company said power supply in Nizwa was not affected after a fire broke out in the Ghaf Al-Sheikh area, damaging several electricity poles and lines late Friday.
The company said emergency procedures were immediately activated and power loads were diverted through alternative circuits to prevent outages to residential areas and key facilities. No service disruption was reported.
“Technical teams took precautionary measures to ensure continued supply to customers by activating the emergency response plan and redistributing loads through alternative paths,” Nama Electricity said in a statement. “Maintenance crews worked continuously to repair and replace the affected poles at the site.”

The company said it maintains a comprehensive emergency plan and rapid-response strategy to address incidents and safeguard network stability. Teams from regional authorities also assisted on site as work continued.
Nama called on residents to stay away from damaged poles and electrical lines until repairs are completed, citing safety risks. “The company’s operational system relies on advance planning and swift response, enhancing service reliability and customer confidence,” it said.
The cause of the fire was not disclosed, and no injuries were reported. Repairs are ongoing.
