SHARJAH : The initiative, which runs from November 1 to December 31, 2025, aims to ease financial pressures and encourage compliance with tenancy regulations across the emirate.

The Sharjah City Municipality has detailed the new decision issued by the Sharjah Executive Council, allowing landlords and tenants a two-month window to regularize lease contracts that were not previously attested, without facing fines or violations.

Explaining the decision on Sharjah TV’s “Direct Line” program, Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Director of Customer Service at the Sharjah City Municipality, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting both residents and investors.

The decision applies to all types of lease contracts, residential, commercial, industrial, and investment, that expired before the implementation of the 2024 Sharjah Lease Regulation Law. Beneficiaries can complete the attestation process through any authorized center or via the “Aqari” digital platform, which facilitates property-related transactions in the emirate.

For instance, a tenant with overdue attestation fees of Dh10,000 will only need to pay Dh5,000 if they settle their dues between November 1 and December 31. The discount will automatically apply during this period. However, from January 1, 2026, fees will revert to their original value.

Al Suwaidi emphasized that no penalties will be imposed for delayed attestation of past contracts, urging landlords and tenants to make use of the opportunity. He also highlighted the importance of attesting lease contracts annually to ensure transparency and efficient dispute resolution through municipal channels.
