Panama: More than 190 countries are competing in this global event, which celebrates youth innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Oman’s national team is composed of three talented students from the Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, Ziyad bin Zakaria Al-Ismaili from Sheikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Kindi School, Al-Khalil bin Ahmed Al-Aufi from Bal’arab bin Sultan School, and Al-Khalil bin Ibrahim Al-Kindi from Abi Ubaida School. The team is supervised by Ibrahim bin Eid Al-Balushi from the Ministry’s Innovation and Scientific Olympiad Department and led by coach Ahmed bin Saif Al-Aufi from the Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate Education Department.
Over the past two months, the team has been diligently preparing for the global challenge, analyzing this year’s competition theme, developing strategies, and designing, building, and programming their robot according to a detailed technical plan.

This year’s FIRST Global Challenge centers on protecting biodiversity, with teams designing robots that simulate the preservation of ecosystems vital to human and planetary health.
The competition, often described as the Olympics of STEM, rotates annually among host countries and unites the world’s youth in exploring solutions to shared environmental and developmental challenges. It encourages participants to employ their knowledge in robotics and engineering to tackle real-world issues while fostering international cooperation and understanding.
