MUSCAT – Valued at over RO 1.9 million, the project is designed to boost tourism, leisure, and community facilities in the Wilayat of Barka, strengthening its position as a key coastal destination in Oman.
During the meeting, which brought together senior officials and project managers, Eng. Ali bin Hassan Al Mujaini, Director of the Projects Department at the South Al Batinah Municipality, delivered a presentation on the progress of various service and development projects underway in the wilayat.
He highlighted that work on the Barka Waterfront Project is progressing according to schedule, with major infrastructure components nearing completion. The project forms part of the governorate’s broader development strategy aimed at enhancing public amenities, improving infrastructure, and promoting sustainable urban growth.
In addition to the waterfront development, the governorate is also advancing several complementary projects, including the second phase of the Barka Walkway development project, which has achieved a completion rate of 45 percent with a cost exceeding RO 168,000.

Work is also continuing on the project to establish parks in residential neighbourhoods in three locations, including South Al-Sumahan, Al-Bala and Al-Rumais, with a completion rate of 10 percent and a cost exceeding RO 288,000.
Besides, internal road rehabilitation and paving works, including road connections and parking areas, has reached 90 percent completion, at a cost of over RO 1.4 million. Another 50-kilometre internal roads project, valued at RO 2.3 million, has also achieved 90 percent completion
These projects are part of a comprehensive development plan for the Wilayat of Barka, contributing to enhancing its tourism, service, and economic assets and raising the quality of life for its citizens and residents.
