MUSCAT: Monday was a very special day at the headquarters of the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) due to the life-saving bravery of a young kid!

Nine-year-old Al Moatasem Al Shaqsi, who saved his family from a house fire, was honored by the officials.

Last week, Al Moatasem heroically rescued his mother who is handicapped and three siblings from a house fire. According to his father, the fire was caused by an electric charger. After rescuing the family Al Moatasem jumped over the garden wall to alert his neighbours for help. Social media was full of praise for the young boy.

On Monday, the Director-General of PACDA facilitated Al Moatesem in recognition for his heroic stance.

“The Director-General of Civil Defence honoured Al Moatesem bin Ahmed Al-Shaksi in recognition of his heroic stance in saving his family due to a fire in their home in the Wilayat of  Bahla in the Governorate of Al-Dakhiliyah, and the Brigadier praised his good behaviour, stressing the importance of community members’ awareness of the risks and how to act during accidents,” PACDA said in a statement.
