KHAN YUNIS – Hamas has handed over all 20 surviving Israeli hostages to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Gaza, Israel’s public broadcaster reported on Monday.
The hostages were freed in two phases, with the second group of 13 transferred in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. Earlier in the day, Hamas released seven hostages — the first to be freed under a ceasefire deal that has temporarily halted two years of devastating conflict in Gaza.
The truce marks a rare pause in fighting that has claimed tens of thousands of Palestinian lives and left numerous captives in militant custody.
