MUSCAT : The figures show North Al Batinah Governorate leading the country in permit activity, issuing 6,664 permits, followed closely by South Al Batinah (6,478) and Muscat Governorate (6,236). Other notable issuances included Al Dakhiliyah (5,313), North Al Sharqiyah (2,853), South Al Sharqiyah (2,793), Dhofar (2,610), and Al Dhahirah (2,072).
At the other end of the spectrum, Al Buraimi accounted for 609 permits, Musandam for 558, and Al Wusta for just 331 permits, making them the governorates with the fewest approvals in 2024.
Sector-wise, residential construction dominated the market, making up the bulk of activity with 28,789 permits, followed by agricultural permits (2,361) and residential-commercial permits (1,903). Meanwhile, industrial permits reached 971, commercial permits stood at 474, and tourism-related permits were the least at 87.
