Rome: According to La Repubblica, around 10,000 protesters gathered near Rome’s Termini station before marching toward Palazzo Chigi, the seat of the Italian government, under heavy police presence. Demonstrators carried banners condemning the interception, which they described as an attack on civilian solidarity efforts.
The protests spread beyond the capital. In Naples, activists stormed the central train station, while Milan saw rallies inside Cadorna station. Turin too witnessed a surge of demonstrators, reflecting nationwide outrage.
Italy’s largest trade union, the General Confederation of Italian Trade Unions (CGIL), announced a general strike for Friday. The union denounced what it called a “serious aggression” against civilian ships, stressing that Italian citizens were among those aboard the flotilla.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirmed that more than 40 boats from the Global Steadfastness Flotilla were seized during the naval operation.
