MUSCAT : The incident occurred on September 29, 2025, and has prompted a swift response from authorities.

According to an official ROP statement, the victims consumed bottled water imported from the Islamic Republic of Iran, bearing the ‘Uranus Star’ trademark. Laboratory tests conducted after the incident confirmed that the water was contaminated, leading to the poisoning.

The Omani citizen, who was part of the affected family, has since recovered after receiving treatment. Upon receiving the report, the North Al Batinah Police Command coordinated immediately with relevant government bodies, collected water samples, and initiated testing procedures.

In response to the findings, all packages of the Uranus Star brand are being withdrawn from local markets, and a ban has been placed on the import of all types of bottled water from Iran as a precautionary measure.

The authorities have also announced that additional measures are being implemented to ensure public safety as investigations continue. The ROP has urged all citizens and residents to avoid consuming the identified water brand and to report any suspected contamination or related concerns to the appropriate authorities without delay.
