MUSCAT : Muscat Municipality and Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah) have signed an agreement to transfer supervision of waste collection and transportation in Muscat Governorate to the municipality from Oct. 1, 2025, officials said on Monday.

The agreement is part of government efforts to strengthen institutional integration in the solid waste sector and support the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Under the deal, Muscat Municipality will oversee collection and transport operations, while be’ah will continue to manage landfills, transfer stations and hazardous waste treatment facilities. Be’ah will also focus on circular economy projects aimed at improving resource efficiency and turning waste into an economic resource.

Both parties said the transition would be carried out without service disruption and would help improve efficiency and raise environmental standards.
