DUBAI : Pakistan squandered a blistering start to post just 146 in 19.1 overs against India in the Asia Cup final, undone by a sudden batting collapse after a commanding opening stand.

Sent in to bat, openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan early dominance with an 84-run partnership. Farhan led the charge with a rapid 57 off 38 deliveries, striking five fours and two sixes, while Zaman anchored the innings with 46 off 35.

At 84 for no loss, Pakistan looked set for a formidable total. But once the stand was broken, the innings unraveled. Wickets tumbled in quick succession, and the middle order failed to withstand the pressure. Zaman’s dismissal only deepened the slide, leaving Pakistan struggling to regain momentum.

India’s spinners exploited the collapse superbly. Kuldeep Yadav delivered a match-turning spell, finishing with four wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel struck twice each. The disciplined bowling display saw Pakistan bowled out with five balls remaining, handing India control of the contest.
