Mumbai: The announcement came during the annual general meeting held in Mumbai on Saturday, where Manhas was chosen unopposed to succeed Roger Binny.

A veteran of India’s domestic cricket circuit, Manhas boasts a prolific career spanning nearly two decades. Between 1997-98 and 2016-17, he featured in 157 First-Class, 130 List A, and 91 T20 matches, cementing his reputation as one of the most reliable performers in Indian cricket’s middle order. His leadership acumen was also well recognized during his tenure as captain of the Delhi cricket team.

At 45, Manhas becomes the third consecutive former cricketer, after Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, to helm the BCCI. Before this elevation, he had served as the Director of Cricket for the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, a role that underlined his commitment to nurturing talent beyond the mainstream cricketing hubs.
