UNITED NATIONS : Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Tuesday accused Israel of attempting to sabotage efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza by launching an attack in Doha earlier this month that targeted senior Hamas political leaders.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Emir said the strike was aimed at undermining negotiations mediated by Qatar and other international partners. “The attack was not only a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty but a deliberate attempt to derail the ceasefire talks,” he said.
The incident, which took place in early September, hit a residential compound in the Qatari capital where Hamas officials were reportedly meeting. Doha has been playing a central role in mediation efforts between Israel, Hamas and the United States, seeking to broker a truce and facilitate humanitarian access into the besieged enclave.

Emir Tamim warned that targeting negotiators risked destroying fragile diplomatic channels. “Such actions reveal that Israel is not committed to peace and is instead seeking to prolong the bloodshed in Gaza,” he told world leaders.
