Oman signs UN Declaration on Protection of Humanitarian Personnel

The Sultanate of Oman has signed the Declaration on the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

MUSCAT – The signing took place during the opening of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), alongside several other countries dedicated to advancing international humanitarian efforts.


The declaration was signed on behalf of the Sultanate by Ambassador Ali bin Ahmed Al-Najjar, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The Declaration aims to express the political and humanitarian will of the international community to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches civilians affected by conflicts safely and swiftly.


On the sidelines of the UNGA opening, His Excellency Ambassador Omar bin Saeed Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, took part in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers’ coordination meeting.


The meeting aimed to align the positions of GCC member states on key regional and international issues, and to strengthen strategic relations and dialogue between the GCC and global partners.
Participants also reviewed recent regional developments and shared perspectives on international diplomacy and cooperation.


In a separate engagement, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with His Excellency Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Saint Kitts and Nevis.


The two sides discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields of mutual interest, and exchanged views on a number of regional and global matters.
