DUBAI: India continued their dominant run in the Asia Cup with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in their Group A encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing a modest target of 128, India wrapped up the contest with 25 balls to spare, underlining their superiority in what turned out to be a one-sided affair. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav led from the front with a composed 47 off 37 balls, while Tilak Varma added 31 to steady the innings. Earlier, Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 31 from just 13 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and two towering sixes, gave India a flying start.
The win takes India to the top of Group A with four points, virtually assuring them a place in the Super Four stage, while Pakistan are left to regroup after being outplayed in all departments.
