ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates has summoned Israel’s ambassador, Yossi Shelley, to deliver a formal protest following Israel’s attack in Doha that targeted Hamas leaders, according to a report by Israel’s public broadcaster Kan.
The move marks a rare public rebuke from the UAE, which in 2020 became the first Gulf state to normalize diplomatic ties with Israel under the US-brokered Abraham Accords.
There has been no immediate official comment from either the Emirati or Israeli authorities regarding the reported summons. The development comes amid growing regional tensions following the strike, which has drawn sharp criticism from Qatar and prompted calls across the Gulf for restraint and accountability.
